Top gear. Great fit. Very well made. Looking forward to many dry days to come. Thank you to the whole team making this a possibility that we might be able to stay dry for once out in the field day to day. Thank you!
P.s. Especially loving the zip and hood, the jacket feels a bit more flexible than the last one I had which I still love to bits. But this will be the new daily for sure.

Thank you Ed, this means a lot to the team. Especially since you have the first edition as well.

All the best,
Brian

Haven't broken it in yet but first impressions are good. Right amount of oversized gives plenty of movement and ability to layer. Sleeves might be a bit long. I'm 5'10" in a large. Thing is heavy duty and should hold up to working in the brush. Removable hood is nice as I'd never wear it. Stichening is neat, only negative I can find is they didn't use a YKK zipper, but the one they chose seems solid. Overall very happy with my purchase.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Brett, it means a lot! We initially were planning on going with YKK, however they were backlogged months due to supply chain issues. The zipper we ended up going with is rated at over 10,000 zips. It should last you an incredibly long time.

Respectfully,
Brian

It’s by far the best rain jacket I’ve ever worn. During the heavy rain days at work I’m completely dry with no wet areas at all underneath. I also have the Apex rain pants as well and they hold up well also. Great quality and you pay a little more but top notch all around. Also the follow up phone call I received from the company to see how I was liking the new gear was awesome and it shows pride and commitment to their product.

Thank you Michael!! We are glad that the Apex line is performing for you. Please reach out if we can do anything in the future.

Respectfully,
Brian

I’m working in Squamish and with the heavy rain days here my rain gear didn’t really keep me dry at all. I started researching quality rain gear and came across your website. There are a few carpenters here wearing your hurricane series and they had nothing but good stuff to say about your gear. So I went ahead and bought the apex series and never regretted it. On the rain days last week I was completely dry underneath. Not one wet area on me. You guys make an awesome product. 5 stars all around 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great quality rain pants, heavy duty and kept me dry all day. I wear a 38 x 30 pant size. The large size rain pants were perfect in length, the waist was a little tight for my liking. In the winter I wear them over a couple layers of clothing so the next pair I purchase will be the XL size. They are very well made garment and I look forward to many years of use from them.

Thanks Luke, I am glad you are enjoying your bibs! Let us know if we can do anything for you in the future.

I was looking to replace my Hurricane rain gear which started leaking this year after approx. 10 years of service. I really had no major complaints with that brand. I came across the Apex brand through Rain Gear Pro and decided to give it a try despite the fact that it is significantly more expensive than the Hurricane. I ordered both the Apex unlined jacket and bib pants in size medium. I use a sou'wester rain hat instead of a hood.

My need for good rain gear is because of the work I do. A good part of my winters are spent pruning in orchards.

I started using the Apex gear in Dec. '25 which was wet here on BC's south coast. I got a limited amount of use out of it because Jan. '26 turned out to be fairly dry.
I can only comment on fit and features, not on longevity because that only is apparent after use and time.

I am 5'10" and approx. 145 lbs. My leg inseam is 32" and my arm inseam length is 25".

The fit of the Apex medium jacket and arm length work well for me. The sleeve length is generous which I like because the cuff of my rain gloves stays covered while stretching my arms out. I like the two pockets at hip level with flap closures with snaps. I like the front closure. First a nice heavy zipper covered with a flap with snaps. I also like the fact that it has a loop attached to the inside of the collar for hanging it up. I know that's a small detail but it used to irritate me that the Hurricane didn't have that.

The fit of the Apex medium bib pants also works well for me. The bib has a wide outside pocket covered with a snap closure. When I first put the pants on, I thought the legs were going to be too long until I discovered a very nice feature. The bottom 3" of the leg can be folded up inside the leg and fastened in place with snaps. That makes the leg length perfect for me! The elastic suspender straps appear to be of good material and the plastic clips for fastening work well and look sturdy. I guess longevity of the elastic material of the suspenders will prove how well it stands up over time. With my Hurricane gear, it got very annoying to have the suspender material get so tired that no matter how much you adjust the fasteners, your pant cuffs are touching the ground.

I'm very happy with my purchase of the Apex gear. The waterproof ability of the material itself will be seen over time and use.

Bryan! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. It means alot to us. 10 years in your Hurricane gear is pretty good! I hope you get at least that out of your Apex jacket and bibs. Please reach out if you need anything in the future.

The are truly wind and waterproof! I would like them to have a small loop at the back for hanging, so that the elastics don’t need to be under constant load. A small amount of articulation at the knee would be helpful for chores involving having to bend the knees.

Thank you Anne! I will pass this along to the team.

Overall good experience so far, wasn’t expecting them to be so thick material wise, not sure how these will work out in warmer temperatures but for winter they should be great with a pair of longjohns underneath. Doing tree work can be very physically demanding and I sweat a lot even in cold weather so I wanted something breathable that could let some of the sweat vapor out.

Thanks Robert! Layering with a product such as Marino Wool will help keep you warm and dry. I hope you get many years out of your bibs.

Super nice jacket love it. Not a fan of how the hood is attached, wish it was permanently attached.

If you have found your way to this website and this review, then chances are you are sick and tired of the myth that we have been force-fed about GoreTex and other similar fabrics being waterproof AND breathable. If you somehow don't already know, then here it is - YOU CAN'T HAVE BOTH BE TRUE AT THE SAME TIME!!!! This is what led me to Rain Gear Pro. These pants are indeed waterproof! But they aren't breathable (see above). If you accept this basic truth, you can layer appropriately and be totally comfortable in the rain - rely on your base layers to deal with the inevitable sweat and let the suit keep the rain out. I bought this suit for fishing, so my physical demands aren't huge and dealing with a bit of body moisture isn't difficult to do with the right base layers.
The team at Rain Gear Pro has been more than accommodating with me - answering my questions both on the phone (imagine - talking to an actual person!), and through email. I can't say enough about their customer service. And if the price scares you, just consider what you will pay for a similar suit at one of the big-box outdoor stores. I love my suit and will shout it from my boat to anyone who will listen!!! Thanks to Keilan, Erika, Brian, and the rest of the team at RGP!

John,

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review! Making rain gear that works can be a challenge, but it sounds like we have passed your test! I will pass on your review to our entire team.

Happy Fishing!

I think this jacket will hold up well to the abuses of forestry work, but im disappointed in the lack of pockets, armpit vents, and the weird hood. Not sure I’d pay $400+ on one of these ever again……

Thanks for taking our call Chris! Glad we were able to speak about your concerns.

Brian
